Yoga Therapy
Yoga therapy as a specialized form of therapy, is the therapeutic practice of yoga that is individualized to target both mental and physical health problems. This form of therapy uses yoga postures, breathing practices, meditation, and guided imagery to improve health. Yoga therapy, at its core, is a holistic practice that encourages the integration of mind, body, and spirit. Depending on your area of interest and concern, yoga therapy may be applied as a stand-alone practice to encourage self-exploration, growth, and general well-being. However, it may also be used as a set of tools to be integrated into talk therapy sessions to increase mindfulness of body, breath, and thought patterns. Yoga therapy and ACT couple well as models to increase insight into your self-identified goals. Yoga therapy may also help you develop a consistent, tailored, home practice to gain confidence and skills in preparation for joining community classes.
